A solar eclipse will take place across the United States today. While it won’t be a total eclipse, the Moon will obstruct some of the sun over the Texas Panhandle. Here’s what you need to know.

11:29 AM – Partial Eclipse begins – The moon touches the suns edge
12:56 PM – Maximum Eclipse – Moon is closest to the centre of the sun
2:25 PM – Partial Eclipse ends – The moon leaves the suns edge
WILL WE BE ABLE TO SEE IT?
The forecast calls for mostly sunny skies during the late morning hours across Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle.
Temperatures in Amarillo should be in the mid to upper 70s during the duration of the partial eclipse.
HOW CAN WE SAFELY SEE IT?
First and foremost, do not look directly at the sun! It can do permanent damage to your eyesight! To safely look at the solar eclipse, you can purchase solar eclipse glasses at Walmart, Toys R US, Lowe’s, Home Depot Supplies are extremely limited at each place.
