The NFL draft is two weeks away at A.T & T. Stadium and what should my Dallas Cowboys do? I have said it for years the Cowboys need to improve the defense. I was happy the Cowboys put the franchise tag on defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence. He had a great season but, in my opinion there’s no reason to pay for one season. Before last season Lawrence only had nine career sacks since being drafted by the Cowboys in 2014. Lawrence had fourteen and a half sacks which tied him for second in the league last season. He also recorded 58 tackles, five for loss, forced four fumbles two of which he recovered, a pass batted down and fifty two quarterback hurries. Last season was the first time in Lawrence’s career he played in every game. The Cowboys did get some help by signing Kony Ealy who has 15 career sacks with the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots and New York Jets. The Cowboys top pick from last year Taco Charlton got more snaps towards the end of the season and had two sacks in the final five games of the season. The Cowboys need help in the secondary. That might be a way to go in this draft. I can’t tell the Cowboys who to draft because I don’t much football outside NFL games. But I’d go defense first. Then maybe someone to help on the offensive line. Dak Prescott seemed to be running for his life causing him to make mistakes he didn’t make in his rookie season. I think since he couldn’t settle his feet his passes were off last season. I love Dez Bryant but his production hasn’t been that great since he signed his big contract. I doubt he takes a pay cut. Will he be in a Cowboys uniform when the 2018 season begins I don’t know. If not the Cowboys will probably draft a wide receiver to go with their off season acquisitions, Deonte Thompson and Allen Hurns.
