A guy in Austin has said he plans to sue his date for the colossal sum of $17.31, which is what he spent for two tickets to a movie.
The bachelor, Brandon Clarke Vezmar has come to the conclusion that this is the right course of action because he claims the woman that accompanied him to the movie was on her phone throughout the first 15 minutes of Guardians of the Galaxy 2. When he finally asked her to stop Brandon claims she got up and left the theater.
The text of the lawsuit states that texting is a”direct violation of the theater’s policy, adversely affecting the viewing experience of [Vezmar] and others.”
Here’s my favorite line: “While damages sought are modest, the principle is important as Defendant’s behavior is a threat to civilized society.”
Since the lawsuit was filed last week the movie theater where the “threat to civilized society” took place has kindly offered to hand Brandon a gift card for the full amount of $17.31 to end the dispute.
Now, don’t get me wrong. Texting in movies can be pretty annoying, but a “threat to civilized society” warranting a lawsuit? Seems like a stretch to me.
Here’s the full report. As always thanks for stopping by and until next time, happy trails!
