Not in the Headlines: Thursday

Here’s a look at some of the wacky stuff going on in the world that you probably didn’t hear about tonight in the 6:00 report:

A woman in Wisconsin was arrested this week for taking a drive around the block with her nine-year-old son riding on top of her minivan in a plastic swimming pool that wasn’t strapped down – in fact, the idea was that the boy would keep the pool from falling off the car on the way home. The woman said it was okay because her father did that kind of stuff with her all the time when she was a kid. Police didn’t feel like this was an adequate alibi. If convicted she could face up to 5 years in prison.

A couple of strangers got nabbed trying to join the mile-high club on a Delta flight from L.A. to Detroit. It is a felony, and when the plane landed they were both taken into FBI custody. Their big mistake was doing the deed in their seats – not somewhere inconspicuous like the bathroom.

And, there’s a guy running around Riverside, California, dressed as Forrest Gump, just to lift people’s spirits. Police took a fun picture with the guy, and shared it on their Facebook page. Nobody seems to know who the guy is, but he says it doesn’t matter. He said, “There’s a lot of bad things going on in the world and it’s nice to take a break from it.”
