Amarillo Man Arrested After Car Chase

Amarillo Police have arrested 29-year-old Santiago Rios after he led them on an extended chase on Thursday that took place in the area around I-40 and Arthur and then downtown where he rammed a police car and the Police Department Building. Rios was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado. During a traffic stop, Rios reversed the vehicle and ran away from officers. Rios was taken into custody after officers deployed pepper balls and tased him. He was booked into the Potter County Detention Center. Rios faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault on a public servant, evading in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, resisting arrest and failure to identify.
