The annual Army-Air Force game is tomorrow. The team’s will be playing for the Commander in Chief’s Trophy which goes to the champion of the annual series among the three service academies. Army currently has the trophy after beating Air Force last year 21-0 and then beating Navy 14-13. Last year was the first time for the Black Knights to win the trophy since 1996. Air Force leads Army in the series 36–15–1.
It’s fun watching the academies play one another because most of these kids will not advance to the NFL and are playing for school and service pride.
The Army-Air Force game isn’t as popular as the Army-Navy game which is broadcast nationally each year.
It’s impressive to watch the annual Army-Navy game played at Lincoln Financial Stadium in Philadelphia each year. It’s nice to see all the students in uniform at the stadium.
It has been hard watching the game each year since I’m an Army fan and the Midshipmen have had the Army’s number. Navy won 14 games in a row from 2002-2015. Navy leads the series 60–51–7. Now I have another person to help me root for the Black Knights. Logan Patton, my boy, is currently serving in the Army.
The Army-Navy game is set for December 8th.
