For what could be a first a college bowl game was cancelled last night. The Servpro First Responder Bowl between Boise State and Boston College was called after a lightning storm near the Cotton Bowl. Boston College led 7-0 with just a little more than five minutes remaining in the first quarter when the game was halted. After about 90 minutes the games was deemed a no contest. Lightning continued near the Cotton Bowl for three hours after the delay and more storms were expected. Can you imagine the disappointment from the seniors knowing last night was supposed to be their last college game. What about the fans that traveled to see the game. Both colleges are giving fans who purchased their tickets to the bowl game through the universities a refund.
I’ve been to races at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth and always take an extra day just in case of rainy weather. I’ve been there to watch a race on Monday. I have been to a race in Phoenix where a winner was declared after the race went past the half way point. Sad thing was we spent our money at the race track and got stuck in Las Vegas on the way home because our flight took off 15 minutes before we got there to make our connection. I know I wouldn’t be happy if a big event like the bowl game was cancelled after I drove or flew in to see it.
