Charley Pride, Country’s First Black Superstar has died from complications of Covid-19 at the age of 86. Pride was described as the first black superstar of country music, having 19 of his singles hit the top of the charts throughout the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s. Along with winning three Grammys, Pride was recently honored with the lifetime achievement award at last month’s Country Music Awards.

Reba McEntire wrote on Twitter. “He will truly be missed but will always be remembered for his great music, wonderful personality, and his big heart.”
