Fatal Accident Near Adrian New Years Day

Crash Near Panhandle
18-year-old Asaph Mecklenburg of Pagosa Springs, Colorado was killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on collision on I-40 five miles east of Adrian. According to the DPS, Mecklenburg was driving a 2013 Hyundai Veloster east-bound in the west-bound lane of I-40 when his vehicle collided with a 2023 Ford Bronco driven by 34-year-old Eric Orange of Mineola, Texas. Orange was transported to Northwest Texas Hospital with serious injuries. Mecklenburg was pronounced dead at the scene. This accident is being investigated by the Texas Highway Patrol.
