You know football season is just around the corner when NFL teams start training camp. The Dallas Cowboys will be opening camp on Saturday in Oxnard, California. The Cowboys made some moves in the off season by releasing offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Kellen Moore was promoted to lead the Cowboys offense. Moore believes in moving players around to make defenses guess what you’re about to do. It was easy to guess what the Cowboys were about to do with Linehan.
During lunch today I was watching The Herd with Colin Cowherd on Fox Sports and there’s rumors that running back Ezekiel Elliott may sit out of camp. Elliott has two years left on his rookie contract, which will pay him $3.853 million this season and more than $9 million on the fifth year option next year. It’s going to be extremely hard for the Cowboys to pay Elliott, wide receiver Amari Cooper & quarterback Dak Prescott.
The Cowboys lost wide receiver Cole Beasley and tight end Geoff Swaim. I don’t think Beasley was uesd well the past two seasons. I thought Swaim was the next tight end for the Cowboys. Jason Witten is returning to the team after spending last season in the broadcast booth. Witten found out broadcasting isn’t as easy as catching footballs. Another addition to the Cowboys is wide receiver Randall Cobb formerly of the Green Bay Packers.
I’m glad to see center Travis Frederick will be back after battling Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He could be the come back player of the year.
