It’s been 20 years since the Dixie Chicks did a song called “Goodbye Earl.” The Dallas Cowboys will not sign one of the NFL’s best safeties. Earl Thomas decided to go to the Baltimore Ravens. Thomas has signed a deal reported to be worth $55 million with $32 million being fully guaranteed. I don’t know if my heart is broken because I don’t know how Thomas is going to play after breaking his leg last season in game four. Thomas had two interceptions in Seattle’s win over Dallas in week three. The Cowboys probably couldn’t afford him anyway with only and little over 19 million dollars in cap space available. We could only dream of what might have been.
The Cowboys still have to sign DeMarcus Lawrence who they franchised earlier this month. The Cowboys have to think about contracts for Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott, Byron Jones, David Irving and Amari Cooper.
