KGNC Celebrates 100 Years in the Texas Panhandle

Wednesday, May 18th KGNC 710AM/97.5FM will be hosting a celebration for our 100th birthday, along with inducting three deserving people into our Hall of Fame.

KGNC, then known as WDAG, began broadcasting to the Amarillo area May 19th, 1922 with just 10 watts of power.  In 1935 the station was bought by the Globe News Publishing Company, changing its callsign to KGNC for the first time.  The station began broadcasting at the current 10,000 watts in 1947.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place at 1pm, with the birthday celebration set to begin shortly after that.
