Alright, Alright, Alright!!!
Actor Matthew McConaughey will join the University of Texas as a professor this fall. McConaughey will teach in the university’s Department of Radio-Television-Film. This is the course that I took at Amarillo College and would take the course again just to be taught by McConaughey!
McConaughey has been a visiting instructor at the flagship campus in Austin since 2015. The university said in a statement Wednesday that the appointment recognizes his “outstanding work as a teacher and mentor.”
He will continue teaching a Script to Screen film production class for which he developed the course curriculum. And if you’re wondering if he’s qualified to teach, McConaughey earned a film degree from the school in 1993.
Before I “got my start” at Amarillo College, I looked into taking courses at UCLA. The late comedian Jerry Lewis was teaching a Radio-Television course there in the late 80’s, but because of the cost, it didn’t happen.
