Miranda Lambert’s Beloved Dog of 13 Years, Waylon, Has Died

Miranda Lambert is mourning the death of her dog, Waylon, who she had for 13 years.

Miranda shared the news on social media and the story of how she came to find Waylon.
“I found him and his sister on the side of the road in Oklahoma in January 2008. They were abandoned, starving and freezing nearly to death. I was listening to Jessi Colter and Waylon Jennings at the time me and mom saw them and pulled over to pick them up.” She said, “For almost 13 years he was a rock in our family and always held down the fort.”

The silver lining, Miranda said is that her husband, Brendon McLoughlin, got to meet Waylon and get to know him before he passed. Lambert helps foster efforts through her nonprofit, MuttNation Foundation, that helps animal shelters across the country.
