Tell if you’ve run into this situation when you lived in an apartment. When I lived in an apartment we had assigned parking and occasionally someone would park in my spot. It was usually late at night so I would have to park further away from my apartment and I wouldn’t be happy. Back then the office manager would give me those yellow no parking stickers that you could put on the window. Those things are almost impossible to get off your windshield.
Here’s what happened in Seattle, Dan Smith noticed a Mercedes owned by a car sharing company called ShareNow parked outside his duplex without his or his tenants permission. He called the company and told them they had two hours to remove the car from the property. The company failed to pick up the car so Smith built a makeshift fence around the car. he told the company he was going to charge them a $65 storage fee per day, a $500 harassment fee and $300 for the cost of the fence.
I’ve seen pictures of the “fence.” It looks like a couple pieces of rebar, some of those metal fence post that cost about $10, a piece of wood and some string. Smith must be guarding the fence because it looks like you could just drive through it.
Share Now has tried to work with Smith to get their car back and Smith has rejected their efforts. Smith has said he would cooperate if the police tell him he’s wrong.
