NASCAR’s playoffs are underway and it looks like Martin Truex, Jr. is the odds on favorite to win the Monster Energy Cup. Truex claimed his fifth win of the season by more than seven seconds at Chicagoland Speedway. Even though Truex was penalized twice, once for speeding on pit row and loose lug nuts sent him back into the pits, during race one of the playoffs. He won easily. All season long Truex has looked like the class of the field. The fastest car in NASCAR doesn’t always win. Kyle Busch definitely had the best car. During the first segment two thirds of the field down a lap in winning the 80 lap segment handily. On lap 88 Busch had to return to the pits with a loose wheel. One of his new crew members jumped over the wall too soon causing a drive through penalty. Busch went two laps down and never recovered if fifteenth is never recovering. Chase Elliott finished second followed by Kevin Harvick, Denny Hamlin, Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth and Jamie McMurray. The Dallas Cowboys looked anything but a playoff team after getting smashed by the Denver Broncos 42-17. The Cowboys were outplayed and out coached. The game was delayed an hour because of weather. Can you say what adjustments? New England bounced back from their season opening 42-27 loss. Hopefully the Cowboys will too. Game three of the season is against the Arizona Cardinals and can be heard on 97.9 KGNC FM.
