Is there something that you’ve learned to appreciate more now that you’re older?
People on Reddit have said they appreciate vegetables because they hated them growing up. One user said they appreciate not having plans on a weekend, while another said that they appreciate silence.
Being a cancer survivor, I’ve come to appreciate so much more than what I used to. I appreciate family and friends when they call just to say hello and check up on me. I appreciate being able to taste food. In high school, you had to eat fast just so you wouldn’t miss your next class. It took me a few years after graduating before I started to slow down and eat, but now I eat slow to taste and appreciate my food. Going through cancer, you get a metal taste that doesn’t go away for a long while. No food tasted good.
I appreciate being able to experience more things. I’m more open-minded, which I appreciate so much. I honestly believe that as I get older, I appreciate more and more every day. I appreciate living.
What have you learned to appreciate more?
