Top 10 Re-Tweets Of The Year

Twitter released it’s top 10 Re-tweets of the year. The list includes a couple of athletes, a singer, a band, a university, a former president and a man bent on free nuggets. Former President Barack Obama made the list three times.

At number 10 was the phone number for the suicide hotline that was made into a song bu Logic, Alessia Cara & Khalid.

Sam Martin of the Detroit Lion had the 9th re-tweeted tweet. He donated $10,000 to help with hurricane relief in Houston. It promoted a drive to collect toiletries and other essentials.

Number 8: the first of the three tweets from Obama. He tweeted it was an honor to serve us and how it made him a better leader and man.

LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers sub-tweeted Donald Trump uninviting Steph Curry to the White House. His tweet read: U bum  @StephenCurry30 already said he ain’t going! So therefore ain’t no invite. Going to White House was a great honor until you showed up! Re-tweet #7.

No. 6 was Linkin Park’s tribute to Chester Bennington the day he committed suicide.

Obama’s second tweet to make the top 10 was number 5. He tweeted Thank you for everything. My last ask is the same as my first. I’m asking you to believe—not in my ability to create change, but in yours.

At number 4 was Ariana Grande’s tweet about being heartbroken over the attacks following her concert in Manchester, England.

Penn St. had the third most re-tweeted tweet after pledging to give 15 cents for each re-tweet for hurricane relief in Houston. It received 1.1 million re-tweets. They capped their donations at $10,000.

The second most re-tweeted message was the last one on the list from Obama. He quoted Nelson Mandela: “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion…” It was in response to the white  supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia in which Heather Heyer was killled.

The Number One Re-tweet belonged to a Nevada high school student, Carter Wilkerson. He tweeted Wendy’s account asking how many re-tweets would it take to get a year’s worth of nuggets. They said 18 million.  He has over 3.6 million so far. Wendy’s has ponied up anyway.
