Well the Dallas Cowboys have proved they can win ugly. It was not the most impressive game of the season for the team or Dak Prescott. Ugly was Lucky Whitehead putting the Cowboys in the hole by returning the opening kickoff and almost losing a fumble. Ugly was the Cowboys failing to score on their opening drive after starting the game on the ten yard line. Only the second time all season they failed to score to start a game. Special teams were flagged for having too many men on the field allowing the Eagles to keep their first drive going when they wound up kicking a field goal, ugly. Prescott tossed an interception in the end zone when the Cowboys were trying to take a lead during a ten all tie, ugly. The Philadelphia Eagle went down & scored a field goal after the turnover to take a 13-10 lead into the locker room. At minimum it was a six point swing. It was not an impressive moment for the defense either. The Eagles scored in the third for a 20-10 lead. The Cowboys did have a specials teams moment with from their own 27 yard line Chris Jones turned on the after burners for a 30 yard gain on a fake punt attempt. Ugly was in the second and third periods when the Cowboys did not take advantage of running back Ezekiel Elliott. Elliott had less that ten touches in the second and third periods. Feed him the ball. Which they did in overtime after the regulation ended with a 23-23 tie. Elliott had five carries in the extra period. The Cowboys took the ball 75 yards down the field to get the overtime win on a Prescott pass to a wide open Jason Witten. The Cowboys pulled off the UGLY win 29-23 Prescott finished 19-39 (ugly numbers) for 287 yards 2 touchdowns and one interception. The Cowboys have matched their start to the 2014 season when the team also lost the first game then rolled off six straight wins. That year the Cowboys lost two in a row after the six game winning streak The Cowboys next opponent is the win less Cleveland Browns on the road. This could be a trap game with the Cowboys looking ahead to the Pittsburgh Steelers the following week. Jerry Jones has already said Prescott will be the starting QB against the Browns. Get well Tony Romo. The return of two players helped in the win Dez Bryant caught the game tying touchdown pass and Orando Scandrick sacked Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz late in the game to help send it to overtime. Amazing Wentz didn’t fumble.
