Pranks can be funny, but what happens when a prank goes too far?
YouTube star Lauren Love, who has more than a million subscribers, is facing a backlash over a prank video. In the video she pretended to be a Walmart executive and “fired” employees at a Walmart store in Richmond, Texas.
Love went up to Walmart employees, supposedly observed them working and fired them and asking for their badges. One of the employees that Love “fired,” was Maria Leones. When Leones began to cry, Love apologized and said it was only a prank.
Leones said that she felt crushed and powerless after the supposed firing.
“This prank is offensive and the people responsible are no longer welcome in our stores,” Walmart stated. The company also said they’d asked YouTube to remove the video.
Do you think YouTube should also ban Love?
