Here’s a question for you, who pays on a first date? A first date is stressful in general, but when it comes to the check things can get pretty awkward.
Relationship experts say who should pay depends on the situation and the individuals on the date. Online dating expert Julie Spira says “traditional” etiquette means the person who asked the other on the date should foot the bill. But times have changed. Life coach Nina Rubin suggests that on early dates, the person who initiates the dates should pick up the check. When a relationship develops many couples either split bills or alternate paying them in full. She also adds that it’s common courtesy for the person who is treated to leave a tip, so you should always carry cash on a date. Ultimately, people’s preferences vary widely, so when in doubt, expect to split the check.
What do you think? Who do you think should pick up the check?
