According to published reports, the partnership between the Amarillo Independent School District and the non-profit organization, Storybridge, has been “temporarily paused.”

Storybridge distributes free books to children, and has done so since its inception in 2016. The pause appears to be connected to the current vetting process, and ensuring parents have the final say in what is appropriate for their children.

KGNC News has it on good authority that the matter involves what may have been a donated book that was missed in vetting and taken home by a child. The parents contacted the district about the book and the program was paused to strengthen the vetting process to help prevent it from happening again moving forward.

The partnership is expected to resume.
