The hot new sport that could have gamblers lining up is drone races. At least that’s what the people at online sportsbook DraftKings is betting on. They’re taking free-to-play wagers in several states for this weekend’s championship of the Drone Racing League. “Pre-flight shows” start tonight on Twitter, with the main event scheduled for Saturday. Due to the pandemic, this year it’s all virtual. According to DraftKings, there have been more than 150,000 entries so far – 30% higher than usual for a new sport, which could bode well for when the company starts taking actual money.
