Randall County Commissioners are giving Affiliated Foods a tax break of $ 30 million dollars for an expansion project.

The tax abatement was approved at the Commissioner’s Tuesday meeting.

It’s going to create up to 50 new jobs, according to Amarillo Economic Development President, Kevin Carter.

Under the expansion project 200-thousand square feet will be added. 

Carter says the project will bring many benefits to the area,  just in the next 20 years it’s going to provide $6.5 million worth of economic activity, equaling 13 million in 20 years.

Affiliated is looking for A 60% tax break over the next six years and the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2024.
