The Great American Eclipse is taking place today and proper eye protection is a must.

The American College of Optometry wants you yo make sure you have adequate eye coverage.

Looking at the eclipse with proper eye protection can lead to eye damage that can last a lifetime.

Broome Optical,  Dr. Neal Nossaman says the intensity of the sun during the eclipse can burn a hole in your retina, and recommends eclipse-viewing glasses.

The lenses of the glasses are much darker than regular sunglasses.

You should not drive with the eclipse viewing glasses on.

Broome Optical is selling them for $1.

All proceeds from the sale of the glasses will benefit the Amarillo Children’s Home and the High Plains Children’s Home.
