Morgan Wallen appeared on GMA to speak with Michael Strahan about Morgan using the ‘N’ word. In the video that circulated around February, Morgan said, “Hey, take care of this “p—- ass motherf—–. … Take care of this p—- ass n—–” After the video circulated, he has dropped from radio stations and his record label suspended his contract. Morgan said in the interview, “Before this incident my album was already doing well. It was already being well received by critics and by fans. Me and my team noticed that whenever this whole incident happened that there was a spike in my sales.”

Michael Strahan asked if Morgan believed that there was “a race problem in country music”. To which Wallen said, “I mean it would seem that way. Yeah. I mean, I haven’t really sat and thought about that.” Wallen continued, “I was around some of my friends, and we just, we say dumb stuff together,” Waller said. “In our minds it’s playful. I don’t know if it sounds ignorant, but that’s really where it came from.”

He continued, “I’ve heard some stories in the initial conversations … about how people are treated still today and I’m just like, I haven’t seen that with my eyes, that pain or that insignificant feeling.” Do you think Morgan Wallen is remorseful for what he did? Or do you think he is just doing this interview to get back in everyone’s good graces?
