The investigative hearings for the panhandle wildfires are wrapping up day three with testimony from Xcel Energy, the Texas Department of Insurance, and others, ending with public comment.

The public comment phase, a pivotal part of the hearings, witnessed the active participation of community members. Their valuable insights on various strategies for mitigating fire risks enriched the proceedings and

underscored the importance of their role in this process.

During the initial two days, the committee invited speakers to share their expertise. The primary objective of these hearings was to facilitate and identify practical solutions for the ongoing recovery efforts.

Over the last three days, committee members have heard from state and local agency representatives about plans and resource allocations.

After carefully considering the testimony from the last three days, the committee will translate these insights into legislation, highlighting the direct impact of these hearings on the recovery efforts.
