WTAMU Fulbright Scholar

West Texas A&M announced Filiberto Avila, WTAMU’s student body president, won a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship Program award.

Avila will conduct research and work as an English teaching assistant in Spain.

He’s a senior digital media and communication major from Spearman.

WT officials say Avila will leave in September and will work on the Madrid and Segovia campuses of Spain’s IE University as an English teaching assistant in the IE University Language Center and Writing Center. 

He will also help with Spanish lessons for the school’s full-time professors.

Avila says he applied to the program because of his commitment to education and fostering cross-cultural connections.
